TAHOE ACTIVITIES
Once in Lake Tahoe be sure to take a look at our local "Weekly" news magazine, which will be located at your rental home. Inside is an abundance of activities, entertainment, and dining options. This guide will help you decide from all of the many, sometimes overwhelming, choices of fun adventures for your vacation.

After you have settled in don’t forget to take a walk through the great shops and vistas of the Lake through downtown Tahoe City. There is a visitor’s area located next to the Tahoe City Fire Department where you will find even more brochures and ideas for entertainment.
Squaw Valley ski resort offers activites throughout the year

We have made some suggestions below of our favorite places to eat and visit.

First and foremost, food; there is no shortage of excellent restaurants but it helps to have a local’s point of view when it comes to your many choices. You can never go wrong with the most elegant dining options, like  Christy Hill, Wolfdales, Jake's and Sunnyside. But for a special one-of-a-kind Italian cooking take a trip Lanzas, located in Tahoe Vista. Or for more casual dining or a take out meal visit Sanchos, another local favorite for Mexican Food in Tahoe Vista.  If it is dining with views try Captain Jon's in Tahoe Vista where you can sit right on the Lake and enjoy a cocktail and some great food.

Lake Tahoe has an abundance of activities all through out the area

For those special early morning outings we have some great suggestions. To pick up a bagel and a cup of joe , head over to Java Juice Wrap & Bagel, located right on North Lake Blvd. For a nice and comfortable place to read the paper and have a good old fashioned breakfast, try The Old Post Office, located outside Carnelian Bay on Hwy 28.  Fire Sign Cafe on the West Shore across from Sunnyside is also well known for great breakfasts, but being well known means there are often long waits.  Sawtooth Ridge in Tahoe City across from the Safeway is great for breakfast on the way to the slopes, and then a local's secret The Tahoe City Golf Course serves breakfast and there is very rarely a wait, make sure you call first in Winter as their schedule is not always regular.

One of my favorite places to grab a lunch before I head over to Emerald Bay for a nice hike or scenic drive is the PDQ Market, which serves fresh sandwiches and salads at their deli. Or stop by Stoney Ridge Uncommon Kitchen located on Highway 89, not far from Tahoe City for great fresh and healthy menu choices, you will definetely add this one to your list of favorites!

If getting out of your comfortable cabin is a problem, try some take and bake food from Stoney Ridge Uncommon Kitchen or Twin Peaks Catering also offers a personal chef that can come and cook for your family, now that’s a vacation!
If you need to rent skis or buy any equipment we suggest you go to Porters in Truckee or Tahoe City.  Renting before you leave home may seem convenient but if you have any problems with your gear or even if your boots are uncomfortable you are a long way away.  The quality and prices of Porters equipment is great and you will find it a great alternative to renting on the mountain.

Lake Tahoe has no shortage of activities, check out "The Backcountry" to rent mountain bikes, snowshoes, and anything else you need to make you Tahoe vacation adventurous. The Back Country located in Tahoe City and Truckee is one of the largest retailer of winter and summer outdoor gear.

If you are in the need for an experienced Alpine Ski Instructor during the winter months or a Wake board/water ski Instructor during the summer months we have the perfect guy for you. A quote from one of Jonathan's clients, "Spending the day with Jonathan was a great experience, everyone had a great time and he helped us learn how to wake board. I would suggest his services to everyone!" For more information please contact Jonathan at sss2ski@sbcglobal.net
Lake Tahoe winter activites include skiing, snowshoeing and sledding

How could you forget the outstanding world class skiing in Tahoe, check out these resorts for your day on the slopes; Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Northstar, Heavenly, and many more.

If a snowmobile tour would be the perfect addition to your vacation, request our favorite guide, Brian Collier. To make a reservation call, Lake Tahoe SnowmobileTouring at 530-546-4280
