How to Celebrate Christmas in Tahoe

Finish Your Christmas Shopping

The Cobblestone Center is the perfect place to hunt for a last-minute gift. This outdoor pavilion, which was modeled after a classic Bavarian village, houses local shops that are definitely worth a visit. Check out three of our favorites below:
  • Tahoe Trunk Show carries stunning art pieces. They are well-known for their wood maps. Large portions of wood have been carved and stained to show gorgeous Lake Tahoe as well as some of the surrounding hiking trails and state parks. You can also purchase similarly produced maps of the Bay Area and the Hawaiian Islands. Each piece is locally made and hand-stained. Itâs the perfect gift to commemorate a fantastic vacation in North Lake Tahoe.
  • If youâre ever unsure what to get someone, a bottle of wine is the answer! Head to Uncorked Wine Bar for an outstanding selection. They carry wines from all over the globe that fit just about every price point. If you have something in particular in mind, consider contacting the store ahead of your trip and seeing if it can be special ordered.
  • Whether youâre shopping for your four-legged friend or a dog-lover in your life, you need to stop by Scraps Dog Bakery. They carry more than just treats. Here, youâll find all sorts of goodies, including leashes, collars, clothes, and toys. (By the way, did you know that Tahoe Moon Properties has the best selection of dog-friendly rental homes in North Lake Tahoe?)

Get Your Own Christmas Tree

Celebrate Christmas the Lake Tahoe way! Itâs a tradition for many families around here to get their very own pine tree. Before you venture into the woods and start chopping, however, there are some things you need to do. First, youâll need to get a permit from the Forest Service. They cost $10 each, and there is a limit of two per family. For guests of Tahoe Moon Properties, the closest office will be the Incline Village Forest Service. Be sure to call ahead to make sure there are still permits available. Once youâve gotten your permit, the office will give you a list of designated cutting areas. From there, youâre free to cut down your tree! Just remember to bring water, a handsaw, a flashlight, a first aid kit (just in case), and plenty of help!
