In 1993, brothers Jim and John Morrison embarked on their first backcountry ski mountaineering adventure, aiming to conquer the challenging Palisade Crest in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. Drawing from their earlier experiences in the High Sierra, they set out, initially overburdened with gear and short on food. Over the course of a week, they scaled and skied the couloirs they had long admired, learning valuable lessons and honing their skills. This experience fueled their passion for mountaineering, leading them to seek mentors and explore global ski destinations, including Alaska, the Alps, and the Tetons. "Skiing the High Sierra and Beyond" invites you to join Jim and John on a journey through iconic peaks and locales, from Lake Tahoe to the Matterhorn and beyond, showcasing their unwavering pursuit of the perfect turn. This Winter Speaker Series event supports The Send It Foundation, offering outdoor adventures for young adult cancer patients and survivors, fostering community and outdoor fun.
